- The 06/11 Windows Update uninstalled Excel 2016 from some of our user's computers, and replaced it with 2021 on most of them. The 2021 replacements needed a round of closing/opening to pick up a license from our volume license set.
- However, the MS support forums are packed with complaints going back through 2022 (I didn't look further back) about Windows Updates removing their licensed/installed Office products (usually Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Most of the posts were about an installed and licensed product disappearing and many of the users not having a license/key (for example, Office came bundled on their PC purchase; such as from Dell). Some of the uninstall/updates end up resolving after updates and reboots and Office restarts are all completed. A small number of posts assist users in doing things like adding their Dell PC purchase into their Microsoft account, which then gave them access to an Office Key. Many of the posts were not resolved and/or timed out.
