- A birth shrouded in darkness and mystery, that was how life started for little Beatrice. She never knew her parents, whisked away by shrouded, violet-eyed figures mere moments after her cord was cut after being chosen by the Elder as a worthy member of the cult known as the Sisters. Around the age of three, her first real memories formed. She was raised by a kindly witch named Alethia King; at least, she was kind to her. There was an air of cruelty in the way Alethia treated others. It was something to which Beatrice would grow accustomed from the Sisters over the years.
- Bea was a sharp child. She devoured books more than food. She showed early aptitude for magic, a prodigy of sorts. She shied away from nothing, entertaining everything from enchantment to necromancy... Eventually, none of that was enough. She sought out the most ancient of magics and stared into the darkness it offered with a smile. By the age of ten, her eyes were as violet as any other Sister.
- When she was thirteen, Beatrice silently witnessed her first atrocity. While not an active participant in the execution, she watched proudly. Sometime during her fifteenth year, the Sisters brutally murdered and tortured a noble family in their own home. Bea joined in the gruesome scene. And yet, despite everything the Sisters had done to condition her and despite the devotion, she felt towards their patron, there was something more to Beatrice: guilt.
- Under the hawkish eyes of the Sisters and Alethia especially, there would be no escaping the truth of her newfound doubt. She gathered as much of her belongings as she could and she ran. To atone for her sins and hide the truth of who she was from strangers, Bea used a ceremonial dagger to gouge her eyes out. She then sacrificed her eyes to the Elder as one last act of devotion.
- Luckily for Beatrice, she was found by an amiable old couple named Frederick and Patricia Welles who took pity on the recently-blinded girl with nothing more than the clothes on her back, a few books, and a ceremonial dagger on her person. She stayed with them until she was able to function with her blindness... but she always felt eyes on her and so she left their care as soon as she could. She adopted their last name to fit into society.
- Bea never stayed in one place for long, especially when she was in the territories of Zeke, Regalia, and Vrays. Paranoid, or perhaps just correct in her assumption, she believed she was being followed and watched. She continued her intense studies, digging through all sorts of the oldest texts she can find to get a taste of what she had in the cult.
- She also tried to subtly work behind the scenes to undermine the Sisters and whatever their plans are if she can figure them out, as part of her atonement.
- Fifteen years passed without much incident until an unknown entity led her to Flou Drana where she heard tales of a band of adventurers who might be where the answers to her future lie.
